Our ER is also the only state-authorized Level III Trauma Center in Chesterfield County.
 
At Johnston-Willis Hospital, we have five dedicated endoscopy suites, which are separate from our traditional operating rooms. Here we perform procedures such as bronchial thermoplasty, cancer staging, and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS).
 
SURGICAL TECHNICIAN CHALLENGES AND TASKS
 
*1. Demonstrates competency in scrubbing and aseptic technique as it relates to endoscopy unit.
           
*2. Plans and provides equipment and supplies based on patient and physician needs
 
*3. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures; supports the mission of the hospital.
 
  4. Works as a member of the endoscopy team to promote teamwork, to ensure sterilization of endoscopy scopes, and to maintain accurate record keeping.
 
  5. Demonstrate strong understanding of aseptic technique and the importance of adhering to processes.
 
  5. Pursues own professional growth through continuing education and in-services.
 
  6. Demonstrates flexibility in unit to perform other tasks assigned.
 
*THOSE SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS WITH AN (*) ARE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS CONSIDERED NECESSARY TO ACCOMPLISH THIS JOB.

EDUCATION
Required: Surgical Technology Program graduate, or equivalent training
Preferred: Certification as Surgical Technologist
 
EXPERIENCE
Preferred: Minimum 1 year as a Surgical Technologist
