In addition to our expert gynecologists/OBGYNs, prenatal care, birthing specialists and mammogram services, we have specialties in breast diagnostics and minimally invasive surgeries. For high-risk pregnancies and childbirths, we maintain a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), Level II progressive care nursery, multiple maternal fetal medicine specialists and 24/7 neonatologist coverage.

The L&D OR Tech provides the following tasks and responsibilities:

*1. Utilizes principles of aseptic technique in creating and maintaining a sterile field.

*2. Plans and provides equipment and supplies bases on patient and physician needs.

*3. Demonstrates competency in scrubbing cases or assisting surgeon in the O.R. in Labor and Delivery.

*4. Promotes cost containment while delivering quality patient care within the O.R. in Labor and Delivery surgical procedure.

*5. Participates in on-call assignments and demonstrates flexibility to cover staffing as needed.

*6. Demonstrates flexibility to perform other functions within Labor and Delivery to assist in the smooth operation of the department.

*7. Provides a safe environment for the surgical patient during their perioperative experience.

8. Serves as a professional member of the O.R. team in Labor and Delivery.

9. Pursues own professional growth through continuing education and inservices.

*10. Orders and stocks unit supplies.

*11. Assists with registered nurse with obstetrical circulating nurse duties.

12. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures: Supports the mission of the hospital.

13. Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant others. Uses appropriate Patient Education documentation modality.

14. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE
Preferred - Minimum 2 years as a surgical technologist.

EDUCATION
Preferred - High School Graduate. Graduate of OR Technologist School. Graduate of approved CORT or Certified Surgical Assistant Program. At minimum completion of 1 year of nursing school and nursing fundamentals.
