Oversees: (Med/Surg, Oncology, TCU)
The Director of Acute Care Services is administratively accountable for patient care activities, operations, and staff functions within the institution. The patients’ continuum of care from entry to discharge is followed to ensure all patient care needs are being meet. The position develops objectives, policies, and procedures which support the mission, vision and values of the hospital. The position maintains the professional practice standards, customer relations, compliance with accreditation/licensure requirements, personnel and practice in the institution. The position works collaboratively with medical staff, other department directors, departmental staff, and serves in a leadership role fashion. Evaluates patient care data to ensure care is provided in accordance with evidence based practices guidelines and organizational standards. Demonstrates a working knowledge of county, state and federal guidelines (BRN, JC, CDPH, CDC, etc.). Leads and directs the work of others. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
Minimum: Current CA RN License, BLS
Preferred: ACLS, TNCC, PALS, NRP
Minimum: At least 3 years experience in an acute care setting, at least 2 years supervisory and/or managerial experience.
Preferred: 5+ years’ experience in an acute care setting and 5+ years managerial or supervisory experience.
Minimum: BSN or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred: Master’s, DNP or PhD.
Demonstration of excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to problem solve critical thinking ability, knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, and a working knowledge of regulatory guidelines.
Minimum: Effective front line supervision, word processing/spreadsheet, time management, clinical proficiency, Title XXII, Quality Improvement
Preferred: Completion of formal management training
